Duties
- Works as a direct assistant under the executive chef.
- Prepares and cooks food and know all styles of cooking performed in the kitchen. Ensures the food is prepared to quality standards and that staff are mindful of the cost standards associated with the food preparation.
- Ensures that the kitchen is up to safety standards, and that staff are obeying health and sanitation policies and requirements.
- Works quickly and re actively and instructs other staff as necessary based on operations and requirements. Offers suggestions or creative ideas that improve upon the kitchen’s overall quality and financial performance.
- Assists the executive chef with menu planning, inventory, managing of supplies and labor resources. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR215-3, 2-13i to include a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- The ability to obtain (within 6 months of employment) and maintain a Food Protection Manager Certification acquired through an ANSI accredited agency is required (i.e., SERV Safe Food Protection Manager Certification Program).
- Successfully complete an occupational health screening.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.

Qualifications
1.Culinary work experience and education that demonstrated the obtainment of skills necessary to function as a sous chef in a professional kitchen.
2. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, be able to work long and demanding hours.
3. Must be a strong leader and team player, and have the ability to take instructions from the executive chef and carry out those instructions to the lowest levels of staffing.
4. Must be able to mediate staff conflicts especially when stress mounts and tempers rise.

PCS Costs
- Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
- This is a pay-banded position.
- Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
- Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
- Incentives will not be paid.
- Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
