Great Place 12 years ago

We traveled to Edinburgh as part of our little touring holiday of Scotland & found 'Teviotdale House' on the internet. It looked goo& the reviews were good so we booked for 2 nights.
What a lovely place. It lives up to the reviews & we would recommend anyone to stay there.
The lady who runs it (sorry her name has slipped my mind)is very attentive & nothing is too much trouble.
The breakfast is second to none with more than you can eat.
We will certainly be staying here again when we visit Scotland.

Just one criticism, the shower in the 4 poster room is not very good, but that's all we could find remotely wrong.

A place charming and quiet, not far from the main activities of edinburgh, only ten minutes by bus.The house is located in a nice area, clean and comfortable rooms with private bathroom and an assorted breakfast to start the day.

Nice and welcoming 12 years ago

Nice Guest House, not far from the city center (bus at 5 min). My missing star is just because of the bathroom, which, for our room, was on the floor.
Excellent breakfast, and helpful hostess.
Thank you.

Excellent stay 12 years ago

We had a wonderful stay at Teviotdale House. The rooms were very elegant yet comfortable and breakfast was spectacular. Marta is a gracious hostess and helpful with local restaurants and things to do. It is in a very pretty neighborhood only a short bus ride to the Royal Mile.

Lovely stay 12 years ago

We only stayed for one night but Teviotdale House lived up to all its reviews. It was quiet, comfortable, clean and attractive with everything we could have wanted or needed. Given the outrageous prices of most Edinburgh accommodation this is a real treasure - worth every penny of the very reasonable cost.

The Best BB I've ever stayed 13 years ago

I stayed with my partner for three nights at this wonderful guest house. The location is the best of Edinburgh without a doubt. It is near to the Centre, but far enough for it to be a quiet place. The room was even better than what we expected for a guest house and the breakfast... just WOW!! And the owner makes you feel like home. I wouldn't recommend anyother place to stay in Edinburgh!

Friendly, welcoming staff, nice and quiet location, great breakfast. The room we stayed in was a bit shabby, though, with plastic wallpapers and not quite that clean bedhead and curtain over the bed, the pillows and blankets felt quite old, too. The most disturbing thing was the very strong smell in the bathroom that was adjacent to our room and meant for our private use. I had to check after my trip if Teviotdale house was really rated 4-star accommodation. I'd rate it 3-star, tops.

Very Nice Stay 13 years ago

The teviotdale is located in a great neighborhood just south of the center of town. You walk through a lovely park to get to town and I much preferred not being in Old Town or New Town.
The room was nice and the breakfast lovely. Marta and Allen are great hosts and took care of everything we needed.
The room was not my favorite-- a bit musty with the old drapery and it doesnt seem people in scotland open their windows too much.
Overall a fine stay and a good overall location
