CULTS ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIO ALBUM “TO THE GHOSTS”

Along with the album announcement,Cultsdropped “Left My Keys”– the second captivating track to be released from the forthcoming album. Ethereal guitar wraps around a hypnotic backbeat, while the synths shimmer, and Madeline exhales, “I can feel it happening again.”
“It’s about growing up and feeling like you’re being left behind,”she reveals. “You think you’re missing out on things and not accomplishing enough. You get a little bit older and realise you don’t care anymore. All those things you were worried about don’t matter. You become comfortable where you are. It’s freeing to let go of the feeling that you need to be a part of something.”
“It’s a bright spot,”Brian goes on.“With this being To the Ghosts, ‘Left My Keys’ is dedicated to the ghost of your high school memories with an element of fondness.”
Capturing such beauty into their vision, Cults delivers another creation rich in nostalgic themes highlighted in the personal lyrics that touch on memories and capture the feeling of a time you experienced many moons ago. Whilst the dreamy harmonies bring affection into the voyage, the brighter tones and alternating time signatures fuse with the brisk drum shuffles and the jaunty keys. Cults prove they can effortlessly captivate and capture their inventive energy within their vision, whilst still keeping an air of mystery within their vision, which is truly an art form.

To The Ghostswas meticulously crafted; the earliest ideas dated back to the pandemic when they wrote music on weekdays from 10am-5pm with no deadlines or distractions. The album was written and recorded in Brian’s apartment, before travelling to Los Angeles in 2022 to collaborate with longtime producer and trusted creative confidant Shane Stoneback, because “nobody can read our minds like he can,” jests Madeline.To the Ghostswas co-produced byCults& Shane Stoneback, mixed by John Congleton, and mastered by Heba Kadry NYC.
